Intermediate sewing series for all ages (with a focus on clothing).
Weekly on Thursdays: 6-8pm
Session runs for 4 weeks: Jan 25th – Feb 15th
Small class style lessons with Donna
**Participants should have completed Donna’s intro to sewing, or be comfortable using a sewing machine unassisted to be considered ready for intermediate courses.**
Donna has been sewing for over 50 years and can teach you all the basics in just a few short weeks!
In this four-week course, you will build on the skills you already have, while learning how to read and use patterns, dive into applique, and develop more advanced sewing skills with each passing week! You can bring your own sewing machine so you can learn to use it to the best of its ability. Don’t have a machine? No worries — we can easily supply one for you!
If your child has an interest in advancing their sewing skills and has completed an intro course (or similar experience), a parent or guardian can work along side to help them navigate these new projects.
In this intermediate session, you can expect to learn a variety of skills such as;
How to read and follow a clothing pattern (basic knowledge of fractions and how to use a ruler is helpful)
How to properly measure your body for patterns
How to applique – a process used for all types of sewing and quilting projects.
Sewing zippers and buttons
Important fashion sewing skills such as encasing elastic / drawstrings, and sewing / adding pockets.
Deeper knowledge of fabrics
When to use / proper stitches: straight stitch, zig zag and hand sewing stitches will also be taught
Sample projects completed in this series: Lounge / PJ pants, applique shirt project and more if time allows!
No “Drop in” rate at this time; pricing is for the multi-week session only.
This class includes all materials, and professional instruction. Basic sewing experience is necessary.
